This unit delved into the actual methodology of teaching in an actual TEFL classroom. It overviewed the main teaching theories that have been used to teach foreign language over the course of the practice. Some were slightly outdated and not often used in current practice while others have shaped and are essential elements of current teaching practice. The unit also outlined the ESA formula commonly utilized in a TEFL program. The engage phase is the "warm-up" section of a lesson to get students excited and involved in an English lesson. The study stage is where new concepts/words/sentence structures are introduced and practiced. Finally the activate stage is where the students are encourage to use all their knowledge of the English language to practice production in applicable ways.
