There is a strong relationship between teacher and learners, which leads the success of the students.
A good teacher is the one who not only cares about his/her teaching but also students’ learning. Among the features a good teacher should have, there are five most important being: fairly involve all learners equally, having good subject knowledge, being able to motivate students, lively and entertaining, and loving teaching. Besides, a good teacher should have good relationship and interaction with the class, be able to correct students without offending them or affecting their motivation, and know students’ weaknesses and be able to give feedback and individual attention. Furthermore, it is important for a teacher to switch various roles depending on the stages of the lesson. There are nine roles that a teacher may employ: Manager/Controller, Organizer, Assessor, Prompter, Participant, Tutor, Resource/Facilitator, Model and Observer/Monitor.
On the other hand, there are attributes which contribute to the success of a learner such as willingness to listen to the language, learning desire, error correction acceptance, willingness to ask questions and self learning process and methods ability. A good teacher should be responsible for encouraging and fostering these characteristics. There are criteria affecting learners’ success such as age, motivation, learning experience, life experience, behavior, motivation, nervousness, language awareness, culture, language level and motivation; which a teacher should acknowledge in order to deliver good teaching methods to different group of students.
