This unit is about conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals are sentences containing if or similar expressions such as when which refer to past, present and future possibilities. There are 2 clauses, the if clause and the main clause and either can come in the 1st part of a conditional sentence. The five main conditionals are the zero conditional, the first conditional, the second conditional, the third conditional and mixed conditional. Direct speech is actual speech. When we turn direct questions into reported or indirect speech the question word (when, where, who, what how remain but the form of the verb changes into the positive form, the question mark being omitted in reported questions.
