In unit 10 I was required to watch two videos depicting the correct and incorrect ways in which the teacher should conduct himself in the classroom. In the first video I saw how unprofessional and unprepared the teacher was. In the beginning of the class he did not introduce himself to the class neither did he allow the students to introduce themselves. His approach towards the students was intimidating and demanding which made students uninterested and disengaged, which made learning a bit more tedious. In the second video however, depicted the contrast in the mannerism of the teacher as he began his lesson with a warm welcoming aura by firstly introducing himself to the classroom and then allowing the students to also introduce themselves which played a role of interaction from the students and also allowing them to practice in the English Language how to introduce themselves. The teacher had a very good use of gestures to aid in the the management of the classroom and also the use of eye contact with the students and the use of their names to indicate who is to speak at the appointed time and also help to encourage their contributions. In conclusion, if the teacher motivates, maintains a good relationship with his or her students, has a well prepared lesson the learning environment will be very stimulating, creating a dynamic classroom.
