This unit was about pronunciation and phonology within the English language. Phonology is important as intonation, stress, and rhythm is important for emphasizing different parts of a sentence. The meaning of a sentence can change depending on which words are stress and how the sentence is said with intonation. Additionally, teaching correct pronunciation is important. Pronunciation can be taught be teaching how a sound should be said with your mouth. Using resources such as the phonetic alphabet and also mouth diagrams can be useful in teaching students. This unit was useful because as a native speaker, much of this just comes naturally to me. Many things I learned are things I was not aware of as I already did it naturally (such as sound joining). Learning how to teach pronunciation and phonology allowed me to take a step back and realize more about how I speak.
