In this study unit we learned what productive skills are (speaking and writing skills) as well as how to approach and teach productive skills in the classroom.
We have learned that the majority of students and teachers prefer to focus on developing and mastering speaking skill instead of writing skills. However, it is important that students also learn and properly develop their writing skills along side their speaking skills. This will help with their understanding and comprehension of how the language structure functions and how grammar, vocabulary, punctuation and pronunciation all come together when speaking and writing.
As we have learned in the previous unit, it imperative that the resources and materials used in the classroom are of an interesting nature and in line with the students language level. It is important that the students find the lesson, resources and material used intriguing and relevant to ensure active participation on the students behalf.
Lastly we also considered the benefit of incorporating games into our teaching and learning activities to help further develop and improve students skills. Using games creates an inviting and fun atmosphere which help ease the students into the activities and allow for creative communication.
