In this study unit we looked at teaching special groups such as beginners, individual students, children, and business groups (adult students).
We learned that each special group requires a certain approach when teaching a new language. For example when teaching an individual student, certain type of activities will not be possible in this setting. Also they way we would teach children as appose to adults students differ vastly - we know that with younger children the lessons need to be interesting, colourful, fun and incorporate many resources to assist with the teaching and learning experience. When working with adult students, either a business group or a regular mixed group, we can perform a needs analysis to help the teach further target the students aims, needs and objectives. These language teaching groups can also be target specific such as teaching hotel staff, thus creating the lessons to revolve around language typically used in the hotel industry.
Lastly we also considered the pro's and con's of teaching a monolingual and multilingual classroom.
