This unit went over pronunciation, phonology, and teaching techniques for these subjects. I learned quite a bit about intonation, stress, as well as phonemic symbols. The meaning of any sentence can be dramatically changed by the stress one places on certain syllables/words. This is important in teaching language, because one's meaning could be completely misunderstood if the stress is placed in a place that does not convey their intended meaning. For example, within most 2-syllable nouns and adjectives, the stress is on the first syllable, but with most 2-syllable verbs, the stress is on the last syllable. Additionally, I learned a lot about where English sounds are physically made in the mouth, and the phonemic alphabet.
