In this study unit we look at the various resources, equipment and teaching aids a teacher can use in the classroom.
These teaching aids enables the teacher to create a more productive and successful lesson, not only to assist the teacher in teaching but to assist the students with their learning.
Every student learns differently, therefore it is important that teachers make use of various resources and teaching aids to accommodate each students learning style.
With the help of teaching aids teacher can create proactive lesson where students are hands-on, interacting with fellow peers and part of the teaching and learning process. It is important to create lessons that are diverse in style and incorporates relevant and interesting material and equipment that will keep students motivated and engaged.
These teaching aids and equipment also assists the teacher in his/her preparation for the lesson, thus moving away from the traditional lecture style teaching to a more modern and diverse teaching style which reduces teacher talk time and increases students participation and student talk time.
All of the teaching aids, resources and equipment discussed in this unit adds value to the teaching and learning experience when use correctly and appropriately. Teacher should not misuse or rely on these teaching aids too much as this will diminish the value and effectiveness they can have in a lesson.
