As a teacher having a lesson plan is critical. It is important for understanding the goals of the lesson, and what steps need to be taken to achieve those goals. Previously when I have been making my lesson plans I have focused more on the timing, pacing, language points, teaching aids and procedures. I did not realize that there are more factors I should consider when making a lesson plan. I have anticipated problems when making my lesson plans but I have not made it something I focus on when planning. When I thought about possible issues arising I focused on whether I can manage a way around it or if I should change the lesson plan completely to avoid the issues. If it was difficult rather than trying and having a backup plan I previously just did something else. This has changed my mentality and opened up a lot more possibilities.
