This unit helped me feel more comfortable with creating a lesson plan. I have only done the required two years of second language in high school so I have only been exposed to a few different types of teaching a foreign language. This lesson provided several different methods to teaching EFL and their strengths and weaknesses. From them, I've already found myself favoring a couple. So far, I want to structure my lessons based around a fusion of the grammar-translation along with the communicative language teaching. I like aspects of all of the different methods so I know I'll end up using most of them depending on the main language point of that day, especially the community language learning as I think that will be the most efficient in getting the students used to English as well as help them discover the language.
In regards to the actual lesson plan structuring, I am happy that we will be using the ESA approach. It allows for the flexibility a teacher needs when teaching EFL. I'm hoping that my future classes will be long enough so that I can utilize the patchwork ESA as I like the idea of working with the attention span of students. I feel that having a few more sequences will keep them engaged through out the entire lesson and not just during the engage phase.
