Unit four entitled present tenses explores four different subdivisions that the present tense can be broken into. Those four subdivisions are present simple, present perfect, present continuous, and present perfect continuous. Present simple form is generally used to state habitual or routine acts also to state permanent situations or facts. Present continuous form states an action in progress or temporary action not necessarily in progress at the time of speaking it also emphasizes frequent action. Present perfect form is used for completed actions or actions that began in the past but are still true now or it can also be used to describe past actions with current results. Lastly the present perfect continuous form is used to communicate incomplete or ongoing actions/activities or an interrupted activity with current results. The unit furthermore breaks down those subdivisions into affirmative, negative and question form. Also examples of typical student errors and active stage teaching ideas are given as references.
