This fairly difficult unit on grammar dealt with modal auxiliary verbs, the passive versus the active voice, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs. Modal auxiliary verbs are used to add meaning to the main verb and can express several different ideas, like obligation, advice, ability, permission, and possibility. In the passive voice, the person doing the action is much less important. In the active voice, the focus is on the person doing the action. Intransitive phrasal verbs are followed by an object, transitive separable verbs the object of the sentence can go after the particle or between the verb and the particle, and in transitive inseparable verbs, the object of the sentence absolutely must go after the particle.
