The two productive skills are equally important. In a speaking skill lesson, the focus will be on accuracy and fluency. Mostly accuracy is taught in the study phase of a lesson, fluency is student controlled and therefore fluency activities will usually be planned in the activate phase. In a writing skill lesson, the teacher may want to explain the importance of spelling, punctuation and lay out. One may also find it useful to teach different types of writing (for example, cartoons, letters, story telling, …)
