Being able to understand parts of speech is fundamental in reading and writing. A writer with a great understanding of the organization of a sentence will be able to develop clearer and more vivid sentences than one who does not, because the former would understand that form and the position of words in a phrase can produce specificity. While reading the unit, and in paying attention to the exceptions of the rule, I gained a clearer understanding on how confusing the meaning of a sentence can be if the words are not properly arranged. The definitions provided will equip me with better vocabulary relating to parts of speech which will help me name some of the grammar issues my students may experience.
