The productive aspects of English are writing and speaking. Within the productive aspect, there are two main categories- fluency and accuracy. When focusing on accuracy, the teacher will try to help the students be 100 % correct in pronunciation, grammar, and syntax. When focusing on fluency, the teacher will correct less and encourage creative spontaneous speech. Both are equally important and should be given lesson time. Often times writing is the least focused aspect of language in the classroom, but it is still very important. Writing can be more difficult for students whose native language is very dissimilar from English. Writing in English is also just generally hard because it is not a phonetic language.
