This unit talks about the four aspects of the past tense: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. These share certain similarities with the previously discussed present tense in usage and form.
The introduction helped me organize some of the rules regarding the tenses:
1. Continuous forms: “to be” + “ing” form of the verb,
2. Perfect forms: “to have” + past participle form of the verb, and
3. Perfect continuous forms: “to have” + “been” + “ing” form of the verb.
I found the sample teaching ideas or activities really helpful especially the picture prompts where I can ask my students to formulate sentences based from the pictures because it also helps them develop their critical thinking and creativity.
