Unit 13: Phonetics.
Phonetics, and pronunciation are probably the hardest thing to teach to English language learners in my experience. Whenever I was asked to help with a pronunciation, it’s always been me saying a word multiple times and having that person mirror me, however I was always unable to explain why we say things the way we do and how to properly make the sound… Until this lesson. This lesson was extremely difficult, as I’ve never even seen the phonetic alphabet and having to answer questions and puzzle sentences together with symbols I’ve never seen was a real challenge. This lesson also introduced a bunch of new vocabulary for me about phonetics. All in all, this lesson has been the most challenging up to this point, however I will always keep it handy as I believe it will be an invaluable tool in assist English language learners.
