In this unit, the different equipment and aids that are used in the classroom are discussed, along with useful tips and things to bear in mind when using them.
With the continuous advancement of technology, more and more equipment and teaching aids are developed and produced. I have used most of these technologies in the classroom including the OHP, cassette recorder, CD player, Videos and DVDs, video camera and especially, the computer. With the help of the computer, I am also able to create presentations, print visual aids, worksheets, work cards, and access online sources. The online sources include dictionaries, learning materials for students like supplementary lessons & exercises, media resources like newspapers, TV radio stations & journals, general ELL resources and teaching resources.
The appropriate selection and use of the aforementioned equipment and teaching aids contribute greatly to the success of the teaching process. Different equipment and aids are becoming readily accessible to teachers which make preparing lessons less complicated. Proper exploitation of these materials can make or break a lesson, so it is crucial for teachers to plan and prepare the lesson aims, sequence of activities and the functionality of the equipment ahead of time.
