This unit went through the many (7) tenses within the future tense. I can already predict that this is going to be the most challenging unit to teach due to the overlap with the present tenses. I am still slightly confused about the difference between the “going to future” tense and the “present continuous” tense. As of now I believe the difference is simply that the going to future needs to have the phrase “going to”, whereas the present continuous will just have a form of the “to be” verb followed by an “-ing” form of a verb, which could be “going”, but then could not be followed by “to”. I am imagining it will be quite difficult to explain to students that there are present tenses that imply things about the future. My favorite aspect of this unit was reading about the different teaching suggestions for each section, as these activities seem the most fun compared to all the others we have learned up to this point. I think students (particularly younger ones) will enjoy constructing futuristic homes, jobs, lifestyles, etc. that they can then share with the class.
