I learned more about the difference between continuous and perfect forms in both present and past tenses. This material is difficult because of the use of past participles in the present tense. I now understand that the tense of the auxiliary verb informs whether a more complex (as opposed to 'simple') form of a verb tense is considered either present or past. I learned the difference, for example, between present and past continuous, present perfect and past perfect, as well as the difference between present perfect continuous and past perfect continuous. This material is potentially confusing and while I myself don't make grammatical mistakes in these areas I recognized that my students may in fact do this and I need to understand the premise(s) behind these verb forms in order to be able to help them understand the source of their mistake(s) and how to correct them.
