This unit carries on the topic regarding the tenses that make up the English language and focuses on the future tense.
There are four aspects of the future tense. One is the future simple. Some of its usages are to make predictions and promises or offers and for future facts and certainties. Another aspect is the future continuous. It is used for actions that are in progress in the future. The other aspect is the future perfect, which is ‘the past in the future’. And the last aspect is the future perfect continuous that is used to say how long something will have continued by a certain time in the future.
Aside from the four aspects of the future tense, there are other ways to talk about the future without using a future verb tense. We use the simple present to talk about scheduled events, the present continuous to talk about future arrangements and ‘be going to’ to talk about plans and intentions.
This unit certainly added to my knowledge of the structures and usages of the future tense. It also provided helpful teaching ideas and activities that can be used to effectively teach the forms of the future tense to students.
