This unit discussed the most common problems that come up in the classroom and gave very helpful advice as to how a teacher can tackle them. The three problems that felt most relevant to me were: first lessons, warmers, and use of native languages. I am most nervous for the first class as it will not only be my first class ever as a teacher, but first classes in general also carry a lot of weight as you have to create rapport with your students. With that being said, getting to know people and playing name-games, etc., is something I think I can handle. In regards to the warmers, I know it is incredibly important to have one at the beginning of every class, I just worry about finding enough things to vary it up each class. I do like the idea of doing hangman in order to review vocabulary from the previous lesson. Finally, I worry about giving into my students and speaking in their native tongue in order to get an activity started quicker or just have them generally understand something better. It will be vital that I stay true to my commitment to only speaking English and only responding to English spoken to me.
