I learned a lot from studying these two lessons. The attitude and manner of the teacher was obviously strikingly different, and it made a large impact on the students. It was interesting to me to note the similarities in the lessons. They were trying to teach the same principle, and each had a few planned activities to accomplish this. But the outcomes were so different because of the attitude of the teacher. He was so condescending, flustered, unorganized, and rude in the first lesson. The students were confused and nervous to answer his questions because of it. In the second lesson, he was encouraging, clear, and firm but kind. It showed in the participation of his students. Students aren't going to participate and volunteer answers if they feel intimidated. The learning environment needs to be one of safety and positivity.
