Future tense can roughly be divided into seven categories: future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, be going + the infinitive, the present simple (to express an action in the future), the present continuous (to express an action in the future). For the future simple we use will/shall + base form of the verb. It is used the express future facts and certainties, promises, predictions, assumptions/speculations, spontaneous decisions, and threats. The future continuous form is will + be + verb + ing (present participle). The negative is expressed with won’t. This tense is used to say that something will be in progress at a particular time in the future, to predict the present (guessing or speculating what will be happening now), for polite enquiries referring to other people’s plans, to refer to future events which are fixed or decided. The future perfect form is will + have + past participle. It is used to say that something will have been done, completed or achieved by a certain time in the future. The future perfect continuous form is will + have + been + verb + ing. We use this tense to express how long something will have continued by a certain time. The next format is to use be going + infinitive. With this format you use the verb “to be” (present tense) + going to + base form of the verb. It is used for intentions, predictions based on present evidence, and plans made before speaking. Using the present simple with a future time marker also serves to indicate an idea of the future. It is used to suggest a more formal situation, for timetables and schedules, and to suggest a more impersonal tone. Using the present continuous in a similar manner is used to express definite arrangements and decisions and plans without a time frame.
