I am provided with a course book and associated parts at the institution where I teach, but I have to skip a lot of the material because it is not relevant to the students' needs. The analysis of authentic versus created materials and the good and bad uses of course books is something I feel I am already familiar with, and generally of the same opinion as that expressed in this chapter. I am especially happy with the role-play and flash cards provided here. The students like puzzles and games and I make it a point always to have some of each for their lessons. I still have a bit of confusion about what constitutes the activate portion of the lesson and need to review that information.
