This unit was about evaluation and testing in classes, as it is a useful way for teachers to decide what students need to work on/are comfortable with, and also track their progress. In this unit, I learned about placement tests given before the class, diagnostic tests given at the start of the class, and progress tests to see how much students are retaining. i was also intrigued to learn about the different types of external tests (which may fit different needs/goals of students), and how practice tests can aid in this way. In classes, I would like to include more tests, particularly having students test each other or themselves. I think this skill will be useful when they need to study from home. They can see how it is possible to test themselves in different ways then just having the teacher conduct it. I liked the English skills placement test offered in the lesson, as it is a pretty good way to test an intermediate/advanced student in their level. However, it doesn't seem like the fill in the blanks activities would fit a beginner, who even struggles to introduce themselves or answer basic questions. For beginner students, it seems more useful to ask basic questions about vocabulary/alphabet/greetings/etc to see what topics they know /don't know and not freak them out. I think eventually students should be able to make their own quizzes to understand what is being expected of them.
