This unit focused on receptive skills and how best to teach them. I feel that I have learned a number of things from this unit, including: the terms receptive and productive skills, which I had previously termed similarly myself for my own purposes, the importance of pre-teaching particular vocab and the difference between skimming and scanning, as I had previously heard both these terms but did not know there was a difference in nuance between them.
