The materials used to teach are as important as the teacher. Most of the schools will probably have their material ready and not need additional materials, though sometimes as the teacher one must supplement the book with their own material. A textbook, while good, can provide an all too familiar experience for the students which they can grow tired of. Therefor it is important and beneficial to mix it up with authentic materials and created materials. The key thing for the students, keeping them engaged, is in the quality of the material provided. Also when going through the book it is alright to skip and omit things that can be covered with better material later.
