Receptive skills are important for the comprehension of any language. The method of teaching them should involve conditioning the students to problematic vocabulary and preparing them for activities that are pending. The goal with teaching this skills is to focus on things the students find fun and interesting. In order for the vocabulary to take root the students must be able to take what was learned from the listening phase and put it to good use. Receptive skills are a good measure of comprehension and application of the vocabulary introduced in other lessons as well. As with all things related to learning this is one part of the greater whole, but still very important to the students having a grasp on their second language.
