It was amazing to watch the difference in the two videos. In the second video, students are answering questions, speaking to each other, and generally trying their best even though they don't say everything perfectly. The teacher uses gestures like smiling, good demonstrations/explanations, clear and slow speaking and follow-up questions. He seems very invested in how they are following along, and keeping them upbeat. In the first video, the students appear bored, confused and stressed. The teacher mumbles, and says sarcastic and rude things to the students like "you said it wrong" and "you've done nothing." He doesn't smile much, he doesn't ask follow up questions to ask for understanding, and he doesn't guide the students through activities clearly. In my future classes, I aim to utilize more smiling, clear/slow speaking, efficient instructions and demonstrations, follow up questions, and building rapport with students through learning their names and asking some personal questions. The teacher's lesson plan was very inspiring and a seamless way to take students on an adventure of learning language usage and structure and activate them to use the language.
