This unit discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using course books and other lesson materials in teaching. I actually learned a lot from here because of the recent changes in the curriculum in my country. It was hard to look for an exact book that can cater to the needs of language learners. What we usually do is create our own and make sure to revise and change it as students change as well. A lot of example worksheets and activities were also shared in the unit to show how materials can both educate and entertain. This unit highlighted the convenience of having course books, if chosen carefully, it can aid in language learning. It also mentioned the drawbacks of sticking to one course book or not being creative as a teacher when making activities or worksheets. At the end of the day, the goal is still to motivate and engage the students in participating and cooperating in the process of language learning.
