This unit is the most interesting to me as I am used to teach language learners from ages 12 to 18. I discovered the basics of teaching younger to older learners and how I should deal with them. They say that teaching beginners is one of the most rewarding aspects of English language teaching as it covers a wide range of levels among students. Teaching beginners must give importance to how students feel and think of language learning as these factors greatly affect their learning. Teachers need to adjust and be sensitive to the learner’s needs. Teaching children on the other hand requires special skills to be able to be at par with the learner’s energy, curiosity and excitement. It entails a different kind of approach as children also have a very short attention span and our goal of helping them retain as much skills and information as possible might be a struggle. Teaching English for Specific Purposes is also another turn as it requires a more professional range of topics. The basis is what the people need in their professional jobs. You have to cater to the specific needs but at the same time be able to open new topics for them to learn new things and concepts.
