This chapter is the explanation of past tense. The basic 4 past tense, there are past simple, past perfect, past continuous and past perfect continuous. Different past tense represents various situations to express. Past simple is something that happened once in the past, something that happened again and again in the past: something that was true for some time in the past: we often use phrases with ago with the past tense. The past perfect When we talk about something that happened in the past we sometimes want to refer back to something that happened before that time. We can use the past perfect tense (had + past participle) to do this. The past continuous for something which continued before and after another action:or something that happened before and after a particular time:.to show that something continued for some time:for something that was happening again and again,with verbs which show change or growth. The past perfect continuous corresponds to the present perfect continuous, but with reference to a time earlier than 'before now'. As with the present perfect continuous, we are more interested in the process.
