In this unit, we reviewed the various forms of conditional statements. With the zero conditional, if and when can be used interchangeably to describe a fact, often a sequence of events. The first conditional describes an event that is likely or possible to occur and then it's consequence. The second conditional is used to discuss a hypothetical situation that could occur in the future. We use the third conditional to highlight what would have happened under certain circumstances in the past. The mixed conditional allows us to talk about how the present would be affected by hypothetical past actions. In addition, the unit covered the differences between reported and direct speech.
