In Unit 3 I learned about the Engage, Study, and Activate methodology for teaching English. Engage is when the teacher peaks students’ interest and gets them involved in the lesson. This can be done with games, stories, and music. Once students are engaged the study portion begins. During this portion students participate in activities that focus on the language content. After the content has been taught students do an exercise to reinforce the new material. Lastly, the Activate stage is where students are encouraged to use the language and to be creative. During this part, it is important for the teacher to facilitate and monitor students’ speaking. I also learned the difference between error and mistake and when and when not to correct students.
