Unit 16 covered conditionals and reported speech. This unit is a very complex topic as it requires a good understanding of the grammar rules before teaching these two topics. This unit is further complicated when thinking about how to design the lessons that will cover the two topics. For example, when first teaching conditionals, the students need to be comfortable with the zero conditional before moving on to the next form of the conditional and so forth. I think with regards to reported speech, students will find it hard and will require several lessons before they are comfortable with the topic. It requires an ability to change the tenses of the sentence as well as having a good grasp of time related adverbs.
