I think this unit is a little bit outdated, or maybe it applies to teachers workin in less-developed countries. I think that maybe this unit should maybe mention the differences between different countries' and schools' economic situations.
Almost every teacher I know that works in Japan uses a computer daily at work. The students don't use computers while in class, but teachers (including non-English teachers) connect laptops to large TVs with HDMI cables. It helps us to provide all the other resources mentioned in the unit through one source. This point is a supplement to the unit about coursebooks as well. Many coursebooks now come with DVD-ROMS. This is very useful as they often provide interactive visual aids, videos, and songs (like Japan's "Hi, Friends!" and "WeCan" series).
I haven't seen a cassette player in years, and even at the most low-tech schools I see the teachers usin gCD players.
Due to budget and time constraints, printing visual aids is often very difficult. Because of this, using a computer to display visual aids is key for many ALTs nowadays. I think resources for creating original presentations would be helpful too.
