In the tenth unit of our ITTT course titled "CD/Video Lessons", we watched the same English lesson taught twice with the goal of comparing and contrasting how the teacher's methods of teaching affect the students and their level of understanding and participation in the class activities. In the first video, the teacher was very condescending and off-putting in his behavior and in the way that he addressed his students when speaking to them. Every time the students make a grammatical error or have trouble understanding the over-complicated materials that he is attempting to teach them, he gets quite irritated and berates them by claiming that the material is very easy and that they should be able to understand it. This lack of understanding is primarily the result of his failure to properly explain the new concepts to them in the initial stages of the class which is reflected over the lack of interaction and between the students and the limited feedback from the teacher. On the other hand, in the second video the teacher is very friendly and courteous towards the students in both his behavior and his overall demeanor when interacting with them. When the students make errors of mistakes, he helps to explain what they did wrong and encourages them to try and do better the next time around. He also begins the class by explaining and drilling the new concepts and word structures that they will be learning which helps the students to have a much greater deal of respect for the teacher and what he is teaching.
