In the nineteenth unit of our ITTT course titled "Teaching Special Groups", we learned about the tools and techniques required for teaching beginners, teaching individual students, teaching children, teaching business English, and how to teach a multilingual class of English students. The first section we learned about the strategies for teaching beginners to the English language which include using activities from the textbook, identifying what the student’s specific language problems are, and arranging a combination of tools and materials that you feel would be useful for them. In the second section we learned about the steps for teaching individual students which include using activities from the work books, exchanging phone numbers, maximizing on the student’s personal interests, and providing the student with an analysis form to help find out their linguistic strengths and weaknesses. In the third section we learned about teaching children and learned that you should speak more slowly to them, you should use higher pitch when talking to them, use a great deal of repetition, and react positively when the child repeats after you. In the fourth section we learned about the different ways to teach a business themed class which include making the class a one-on-one class, providing the students with an analysis test to test their language proficiency, prepare the teaching materials before going for the class, and allowing the students conduct the majority of the speaking during the class period.
