This unit and it's partner productive skills are important bedrocks for the foundation of teaching any language. The skill of teaching receptive skills transfers to any language being learned and seems like it would be one of the items to take into account when lesson planning. How you teach receptive skills, and the subject of the lesson will play off each other when creating the plan. It was a short unit but provided some interesting points to consider like creating interest so students are engaged and HOW people read like scanning, skimming, etc. HOW the students are reading can have an impact on their ability to learn the subject.
