In the eight unit of our ITTT course titled “Future Tenses”, we learned about the seven different tenses that make up the tense system which include the future simple tense, the future continuous tense, the future perfect tense, the future perfect continuous tense, the be going tense, the present simple tense, and the present continuous tense. The first tense discussed in the unit was the future simple tense which takes the form of the noun will + a verb and is often used to describe future facts and certainties, promises, predictions, speculation, and threats. The second tense discussed in the unit was the future continuous tense which takes the form of the subject + will + be + verb + ing and is often used to say something that will be in progress in the future, to predict what might be happening now, to politely inquire about other people’s plans, and to refer to future events that have been already predetermined. The third tense discussed in the unit was the future perfect tense which takes the form of will + have + past participle and is often used to say that something will have been completed by sometime in the future. The fourth tense discussed in the unit was the future perfect continuous tense which takes the form of will + have + been + verb + ing and is often used to describe how long a certain action will have continued by a certain amount of time. The fifth tense discussed in the unit was be going tense which takes the form of the verb ‘to be’ in the present and is often used to describe intentions, predictions based on current evidence, and future plans. The sixth tense discussed in the unit was the present continuous tense which takes the form of a present tense and is used for making definite arrangements and for making decisions and plans without a time frame.
