This unit covered the basics of English grammar. As noted in the introduction to the unit, as a native English speaker, a lot of the time, we know what "sounds" right or what appears to be correct, without being about to operationalize why this is the case. The last time I took a grammar class was in the 6th grade--10 years ago. As a result, this unit reminded me of all the small ways that speech has become "natural" to me, and all the ways in which I take proper grammar for granted. In particular, going through more obscure grammatical differences like past participles, gerunds, etc. was helpful in refreshing my memory about different parts of speech and how they should be used.
