This is a very brief lesson on receptive skills. Receptive skills are listening and reading. The focus is reading and listening comprehension. It is impossible to ever be fluent in another language if a student can not adequately learn to understand what they are hearing and reading. An important thing mentioned in the lesson that I have learned from personal experience is that if students attempt to understand word by word, rather than understanding overall context , they will not be able to understand the whole of the reading or listening passage.
