In the ninth unit of our ITTT course titled "Lesson Planning", we learned about techniques for planning lessons, lessons plans, lesson structures, and how to make your class and classroom more organized. The first section of the unit talked about the various reasons for why teachers should plan their lessons ahead of time which include it aiding the teacher in visualizing what he expects from the students, it helps the teacher to have a working plan or document to help keep the class on track with the activities that they are required to do, and it helps to provide a written record of what the class have already finished and what materials they still have to do. The second section discussed how a lesson plan should be written down which include using simple structure and language, keeping it flexible and open to adaptation, writing the time for each margin or section, and checking to ensure the equal balancing of skills. The third section talks about the steps to being organized and advises that you check to ensure that you have your lesson plan, check that all the equipment works, lay out the work supplies in an easy to find manner, make sure that the white-board is completely clean, and be prepared to talk to students as they come to school. The fourth section discussed what sections should be included in the lesson plan which include the learner objectives that describe what you want the students to be able to do at the end of class, personal aims and goals for the class, the language point that demonstrates the theme of the lesson, teaching materials that are needed to teach the lesson, the procedure of the class, the three phases of a class, accurate timing of each activity so as to not go overtime, the level of class interaction, the total number of students, and the time and name of the teachers.
