This unit is based around the two ESA demonstration videos. The second lesson is being taught effectively, while in the first lesson the same teacher is deliberately making a number of basic errors. Now I am able to recognize both the good and bad and this helps me make the right decisions in the classroom. According these two lessons I've clearly understood some important things to help establish class spirit: check that I have my lesson plan; make sure I know all the students' names and all students know my name; make sure the students know each other's names and little basic information about each other; at the beginning of a course have an ice breaking activity; remember to include all students equally in any activity; choose materials and activities that involve the students talking to each other and sharing personal opinions or ideas; give clear instructions; get the students to help and correct each other; have the right manner; be positive; show personal interest in the students; ask for comments and opinions from the students; don't teach exclusively to only the strong or weak students; don't go around the room asking students in order; don't allow individual students to catch my attention or the limelight.
