This in-depth unit looks at the complex concept of phonetics and pronunciation in the English language. A difficult topic to teach students, but it is the foundation on which language is built, and therefore essential. It is necessary to understand because languages from a different language-root (such as Chinese) adheres to vastly different phonetics and pronunciations, making it difficult for an ESL student to comprehend English on a superficial basis. This unit therefore did not only teach me the material of phonetics and pronunciation, but also the approach on how to teach it to other students.
