I found this section to be difficult because despite understanding it I also knew that there are exception to all the rules. I believe that is why most English speaking countries do not focus on this aspect as much because there is a lot of exceptions that students will probably pick up on as they get more comfortable with the language. I think bringing up phonetics will only over complicate a lesson. This would be problematic especially for someone who is just learning the language. I think this is better suited for linguistic theory (which is where I learned about it in college)
