This unit focused on how to teach the receptive skills of reading and listening. In this unit, I learned about the importance of choosing a topic that motivates students and how to appropriate select reading material that is conducive to the level and interest of the students. When creating a lesson plan for a reading or listening activity it's important to be aware of the issues that can arise from difficult vocabulary, word length and sentence length. It is also beneficial to choose topics that interest students throughout the year.
