From this unit I learn that teaching receptive skills are listening and reading, because learners do not need to produce language to do these, they receive and understand it. These skills are sometimes known as passive skills. They can be contrasted with the productive or active skills of speaking and writing.There are several skills that we should know for how to read and listen,for example:predictive skill-we can predict the content from a headline,we can get a general idea of a content by skimming,we can get specific information by scanning.When a teacher is looking for a text for the students,he or she needs to be very careful about it. A teacher should alway keep it in mind that the more language we expose the students to ,the more they will learn.
